Acopia ARX Systems Free of Hazardous and Flammable Substances, Environmentally Sound, and Approved for Delivery in EU Market
Lowell, MA - November 9, 2006 - Acopia Networks®, Inc., the leader in high performance intelligent file virtualization, today announced that its Acopia ARX™ systems are in compliance with the European directive 2002/95/EC on the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS).
The RoHS Directive bans the sale in the European Union (EU) of new electrical and electronic equipment containing excessive levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants. The National Weights and Measures Laboratory (NWML), has been delivering RoHS enforcement since the regulations were fully implemented on July 1, 2006.
"We are extremely gratified to earn RoHS compliance. With more than 40% of Acopia's sales generated outside the U.S., this achievement is significant on a number of levels," said Mark Terenzoni, vice president of operations for Acopia. "Acopia's compliance underscores our continuing market leadership, our respect for the environment, our concern for the health and safety of our customers and employees, and the inherent global nature of our business."
