Acopia Networks Adds Industry Veterans Rick Gillett and John Ywoskus to Management Team

Network Switch Startup Adds Seasoned Technologists To Executive Team

Lowell, MA - December 15, 2003 - Acopia Networks, Inc., a developer of Adaptive Resource Networking products, today announced the appointment of Rick Gillett as chief technical officer and John Ywoskus as vice president of software engineering. Gillett will oversee Acopia's research and development strategies and overall technical direction, while Ywoskus will direct the system architecture and software development efforts.

Data Communications and Storage Industry Veterans

Gillett is a seasoned technologist with over 23 years experience in defining, designing, and introducing breakthrough products which have generated in excess of $10B in sales. With 22 patents to his credit, he has a broad range of technical expertise across storage, networking, and computing disciplines. Prior to joining Acopia, Rick co-founded and was CTO of Storigen Systems, a venture-backed startup company that pioneered solutions for remote facility information management. Rick has also served as Corporate Fellow and CTO of Avid Technology's Network and Storage Solutions Division, and as corporate consulting engineer and CTO of Digital Equipment Corporation's Alpha/VAX Server Division (now part of Hewlett Packard).

John Ywoskus has over two decades of experience in designing clustered computer systems, storage and communication products and holds over 9 patents in various aspects of distributed computing. Prior to joining Acopia, John was co-founder and vice president of engineering of Storigen, where he directed all design and development efforts. John also served as director of engineering of Avid Technology's Network and Storage Solutions Division and vice president of engineering of SeaChange International, where he led the system design and software development for the company's patented MediaCluster technology for broadcast and video-on-demand products. He also served as an engineering director for Digital Equipment Corporation (now part of Hewlett Packard).
