Acopia Networks and Itochu Techno-Science Announce Distribution Partnership

Leading Technology Integrator to Provide Adaptive Resource Switching Products to Japanese Market

Lowell, Mass., September 13, 2004 - Acopia Networks, the innovator of Adaptive Resource Networking, today announced a distribution partnership with Itochu Techno-Science Corp. (CTC) in Japan to market, sell and support Acopia's ARXTM switch product line. CTC, the leading provider of NAS solutions in Japan, chose Acopia's ARX products to complement its current server and storage product partnerships with Network Appliance, EMC and Sun Microsystems. The partnership is Acopia's first distribution agreement in Asia.

"CTC elected to sell and support Acopia's products for 3 main reasons," said Yasuhide Masanishi, CTO, IT Architecture Office of CTC. "First, Acopia's network based approach to resource virtualization is unique and will allow solutions to scale far beyond the existing products. Second the ability to create value and significantly reduce operating expense for our customers by maximizing utilization of storage resources is a compelling advantage. Third, the ability of the Acopia product to be introduced into a heterogeneous storage environment comprised of network based storage from different manufacturers is a significant benefit for our customers."

"Partnerships with leading solutions providers around the world are a key element of Acopia's growth strategy, and we're thrilled to be partnered with the leading provider of server and storage technology and services in Japan" said Christopher Lynch, President and CEO of Acopia. "We are confident that the advantages of Acopia technology and the expertise of CTC will provide unique value and will have an immediate impact on customers in the Japanese market."
