Acopia Networks Partners with Glasshouse Technologies to offer Comprehensive On-demand Storage Virtualization Solutions

Enterprise demand drives need for bundled solutions that deliver predictability and manageability for unstructured data access, storage optimization, backup and disaster recovery

Lowell, Mass., July 27, 2004 - Acopia Networks, the innovator of Adaptive Resource Networking, today announced a partnership with GlassHouse Technologies Inc., the global leader in independent storage services. Through the partnership, GlassHouse will offer a suite of professional services designed to enhance the value of Acopia's products in enterprise customer environments. Based on the comprehensive independent storage services that GlassHouse has been providing to enterprise customers, these new services will provide customers with a best practices framework and approach to implementing Acopia technology in the areas of simplified client presentation, data migration, ILM, capacity balancing and backup/DR of unstructured data.

Acopia Networks, which has pioneered a new class of product, the Adaptive Resource Switch, provides a high performance switching platform that allows enterprises to globally access, manage and optimize unstructured data while reducing the server and storage infrastructure needed to support today's applications. The ARX6000 and ARX1000 couple sophisticated client presentation and storage utilization capabilities with powerful enterprise-wide file distribution that leverage existing storage, server and network infrastructure.

GlassHouse, which specializes in vendor-independent storage services-from strategy to implementation to operational support services, jointly developed the new services with Acopia based on the needs of its mutual large-enterprise customers. The new services will be delivered by GlassHouse consultants and technology specialists worldwide and are a logical extension for GlassHouse with its emphasis on delivering services that maximize investments in storage infrastructures.

"Companies currently evaluating the Acopia and GlassHouse joint solution think the partnership has significance. "Acopia's products have the potential to provide great value in the same areas that GlassHouse offers services, such as automating NAS, storage optimization, and simplifying namespace and client presentation," said Rob Stevenson, technology strategist for Nielsen Media Research, a global leader in information services for the media and entertainment industries. "The benefits of Acopia's product with GlassHouse services are interesting to us as we look to maximize our ROI."

"Acopia and GlassHouse have emerged as the leaders in NAS virtualization and storage services consulting, respectively," said Tony Asaro, senior analyst, Enterprise Storage Group. "I believe the Acopia ARN products can solve major headaches that IT managers are facing today and have greater strategic impact managing enterprise data over the long term. GlassHouse brings insight and expertise to help customers to enable these capabilities working with customers as trusted storage advisors."

Availability of the services in North America is scheduled for September, with international availability in early 2005.
