Chief Technology Officer, Rick Gillett, to Speak on Accelerating Application Performance
Lowell, MA – August 3, 2007 – Acopia Networks®, Inc., the world’s leading provider of high-performance, intelligent file virtualization solutions, today announced that its chief technology officer (CTO), Rick Gillett, will be a featured speaker at the Next Generation Data Center (NGDC) Conference and Expo, taking place August 6 -9, 2007 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA. Gillett’s presentation entitled, “Accelerating Application Performance – Tier 0” will take place on Wednesday, August 8 from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. during the Applications Track.
“New standards and methodologies for application data access, resource manipulation, and business process workflow are critical for data center IT executives of the future to understand,” said Melinda Kendall, general manager, NGDC. “We are delighted and fortunate to be able to include the very timely topic of Tier 0 on this year’s agenda.”
“Traditional tiered storage, or Information Lifecycle Management (ILM), approaches seek to move lower priority files to less expensive storage in an effort to save cost. Newer thinking expands this conventional approach to include migration to memory based devices for the specific purpose of optimizing performance,” explained Gillett. “This new ‘Tier 0’ approach can deliver dramatic application performance improvement.”
During Gillett’s session, attendees will learn:
- Tier 0 Basics, including examples configurations and associated performance test results
- The process and technologies utilized to achieve up to 30X improvements in application throughput
