Acopia Networks Names Michael J. Soha Vice President of Engineering

Chelmsford, MA - December 05, 2002 - Acopia Networks, the venture-funded startup delivering next generation web services infrastructure, announced today the promotion of Michael J. Soha to the position of Vice President of Engineering. In this role Mr. Soha will provide executive and technical leadership to the Acopia Engineering organization as Acopia delivers first in class solutions.

Mr. Soha (a founder of Acopia Networks) previously held the role of Director of Software where he was instrumental in building Acopia's world class engineering organization and delivering on initial engineering milestones. Mr. Soha has over 20 years of computer networking and systems design and development experience. Before joining Acopia, Mr. Soha was VP of Engineering at StarBurst Software (which was acquired by Adero), a provider of highly scalable content distribution applications. Prior to Starburst Mr. Soha was VP, Engineering at Raptor Systems, which went public in 1996 and was subsequently acquired by Symantec. Mr. Soha started his career at Digital Equipment Corporation where he worked on a variety of networking efforts including MAC bridging, IEEE 802 standards development, DEChub900 SmartHub and several computer network advanced development projects.

Mr. Soha earned his bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering/Communication Systems from University of New Hampshire, Durham NH. Mr. Soha is the author of several articles published in IEEE Network Magazine and holds the patent for remote monitoring (RMON).
